Dunno. It's not something like a secret, I guess, that we are building up a distillery. But I feel it is up to the owner to talk about it, not to me.

See you soon!

Just got word from HDNB that he will ship over some drinks and cigars. He won't be there in person, but in spirit ... yes. And if what he ships us is as good as his Bourbon ... we are in for a treat.

Which reminds me ... can you guys bring some normal likker drinking glasses? So we can taste a few drinks?

Regards, Odin.

HDNB wrote:A test of the latest COB lo malt, enzyme whiskey. I sent a small sip out to a friend, so i thought i should taste it.

A few weeks on oak, it's well cut and blended (IMHO) but the corn is still grainy, has not turned sweet yet, so the finish is a little dry. pretty drinkable, i think i'll have another!

Flying to Canada in a few hours. See you guys in the lobby between 4 and 5 pm. We'll go to a steakhouse after that.

Uncle Lum, let me know if we can help you out.

Funny! I just flew back from China less than a weel ago. I got to San Francisco at noon on Sunday, which was BEFORE we had taken off from Beijing at 4 p.m. on Sunday. To be clear, I am assuming we are seeing you TOMORROW between 4 and 5 PM Pacific Standard Time. Synchronize watches, gentlemen!

It is just past midnight now. I arrived in Vancouver. Heading off to bed. Just checked on HDNB's package. Wow! Sorry, can't post pics of them, but the cigars smell delicious and the whiskey is ... awesome.

Officially it is Sunday already. See you guys in 16 hours! Lobby here is small but comfy. If anyone can take some glasses to the occasion, that would be great.

HDNB, can you elaborate on the drink? It aint raspberry syrup for sure!

good to hear you arrived safely.
my critique of the raspberry syrup is a few posts up^^
since it's a small bottle, i sent cask strength around 60%, but it is cut and blended nice no? when you wake up in a few more hours your head will be clear!
it's a few weeks old AG COB low malt enzyme whiskey.
a little water and a couple of ice will open it up nicely. but get some bottled water-not that municipal swimming pool water!
Feel free to post a pic of the cigars if you want, just roll the identifying logo over so we can't see them. I'm not great at rolling yet, there may be some burn issues... so sorry for that! if you get a nasty one, just toss it, they cost nothing to make.

Proud to be trying them out, H! So ... yes I am awake. Hot sauce I loved and ate too much off the last two days in the USA gave me a bit of a head ache. Or a tails ache, to be more specific. But at least the head is clear. It is off to breakfast soon and then find a bank to get me some Canadian cash. Then onwards to the distillery for like 5 or 6 hours of work prior to coming back to the hotel and meeting up with you guys.

Regards, Odin.

Samz next door and I checked it out last night and it was okay. I will be down in the lobby in an hour from now. Just finished building up a still in Pitt Meadows. And my co-worker got pretty far with a masher/cooker. Tomorrow tests, the day after that training. Today? Waiting for you guys and have us a few drinks together. The fireplace is lit. There are 4 lazy chairs ready. First I will take a shower, though!

Just finishing up our little meet and greet with Odin and Baxtersdad--I enjoyed the company and the chat over dinner. I gathered some tidbits of information and knowledge that will assist me in my home distilling experience. Thanks Odin for taking the time for the chat... and Baxtersdad, I'll make the trip south one of these weekends and sample your goods! Thanks for making the trip North. Bushman, too bad you couldn't make it... Odin spoke well of you!! Till we meet again...cheers

Wow, just returned home from a wonderful late afternoon/evening with Grappa-Gringo and Odin, so glad I went! Odin is a gentleman and a scholar and I am truly indebted to him, no seriously, I really am...looks like pay back will be at the brewery some undetermined time in the future.

We enjoyed sampling HDNB's "raspberry syrup" (SFW), which was delightful, and we also enjoyed Grappa-Gringo's bourbon and gin. Having a Nexus card, it did not seem prudent to bring any of my product, which right now is limited to gin, across the border.

We finished up with a nice dinner at the steakhouse next door, more good conversation - learned so much about Odin and his business. If I could have do-overs, and turn the clock back 20 years, I would have bought an iStill and started a craft distillery instead of a brewery!

Lovely times with GG and BaxtersDad! Great guys, good distillers, enthousiastic company. Glad to meet you. And ... for sure to be continued!

My co-worker and I are currently enjoying Grappa's gin. HDNB's whiskey (nice!) went with Grappa, since I cannot take it with me.

Cigars? More on that tomorrow!

Regards, Odin.

Thought about you guys yesterday, sounds like you had a great time. I was in Seattle celebrating my mother-in-laws 90th birthday. We rented a conference area in a restaurant and had over 75 family members, friends, neighbors attend to wish her a happy birthday. This was the view we were faced with.

No we sent out invites to the people she wanted at the party, my wife and I and her brother and his wife did the planning and payed for the event. You only turn 90 once if your lucky to make it so we felt we should do something really special.
