Legality of home distilling in German-speaking areas.

Postby Kareltje » Tue Nov 14, 2017 3:51 pm

I was surfing around and I found these sites.
Some are of a company that sells stills, so I do not know if these are approved by the forum, but I found very cute little stills of 0,5 liter to 3 liters and in all kinds of forms. That alone is a joy to browse. You throw a party for 50 people and could all take your own still of 0.5 liter to a party and than all run them together!

But the company also talks about the legality of home distilling, and that could be interesting.
Also I found a site of the German customs.
These are the links:

I think it is interesting, because they have a complicated system: partly legal small scale distillers.

And about the small stills: I have seen them second hand for about 1/6 of the original price.

I could translate some information, if someone is interested.

In theory the system is similar here but in practice its not, because although potentially some of those licences are available here they are only issued in certain circumstances like say for education. As like Germany the tax is also payable but its not around €10 per litre but more like $86 per litre per 100% , ain't nobody got time for that shit.

We have a page for legality and it contains some foreign language stuff. Might be good to add some for Germany.

My GF can translate from German to English as well.
