About the wiki

Post by Uncle Jesse »

Here's the thing folks, the beauty of the wiki is that anyone can contribute. It's a collaborative effort.

You don't have to be good at markup or formatting or anything. If you have knowledge, you can contribute and then post in the comments that someone needs to gussy up the page. Or you can post it here asking for changes.

Today I created some pages for distilleries and put them into the distillery category in the wiki. I made them all so barebones that it's embarrassing, but at least the pages exist now. Anyone can modify them or add more.

Or, you can check the wanted pages list and contribute according to your interest and/or expertise:

Some are easy, some will take a lot of effort.

Don't be shy! A lot of you have extensive distilling knowledge. The wiki is ever-evolving. Let's make it better and more useful. I plan to bring all the useful info from the home page into the wiki so we can replace the home page with the wiki and run with it.

There is something strange on the Main Page:
Wash preparation from grains to starch
Fermentation of starch into sugars by yeast.

From grains to starch I would call sprouting or malting.
From starch to sugars I would call brewing. (by enzymes)
From sugars to alcohol I would call fermenting. (by yeast)
