Seems that I'm not the only one to have troubble with orange spirit. Last "orange-cello?" I made was way too sweet. Anybody make a good one, and did you keep notes?
Other citrus product info is fine also. These spirits when well made are good to drink, and for cooking---seafood, fruitcake, shotglass, jelly jar, flagon.. ect.
good citrus spirits ?

The "cello" stuff (and all those new vodkas) is made by flavoring a base spirit, rum or vodka. Grand Marnier and Cointreau are made differently, but not totally from citrus. Are you trying to make spirits from citrus, or just trying to mimic the commercial stuff?
Purposeful motion, for one so insane...

2 Lemons (big)
2 Limes
3 cups vodka
sugar
Remove Zest from Fruit (I use a potato peeler and try REAL hard not to use ANY of the white pith under the colored skins), Steep in vodka for 2 weeks, strain, add just enough sugar to taste and bottle.
this recipe works out to be very clear, until the sugar is added (unless you use rock sugar).
Ihave tasted it before adding the sugar, and it was still VERY good.
