help removing odor from used bottles

I was certain that I read a thread somewhere here that contained information and fully cleaning and removing odors from used bottles but I can`t seem to track it down. I have a bucket full of cinnamon whisky bottles that I found in recycling and want to use them as storage. However, the cinamon odor is very strong and I can`t seem to eliminate it. I tried using soap & water and vinegar & water but it`s still there. The thread I read it on may have used foreshots and baking soda?

Anyone have a great method for deordorizing bottles ?
