when using a copper elbow on the top of my column is it nessecary to be sodered or can i just push the pipe into the elbow and then just seal with the dough paste? how much pressure is going to be pushing on it when i fire the still up?

If you want to use a slip join it is usually best to have the lower part of the connection soldered.

i saw ur 3" in boka u had was purely slip joins if im not mistaken, how will u keep it together when ur running it, or is the pressure not enough to worry about?

There's no real pressure in there, it has got a vent at the top of the condenser to eliminate pressure.

If you have pressure in your still you have successfully made an IED to use the current terminology. I'd call it a bomb, but I'm an old bastard.
