will molasses with propionic acid as a preservative in it be ok to use to make rum?
The only molasses I can find is actually a deer attractant for 10.00 a gallon but the ingredients listed are molasses and propionic acid as a preservative.
Thanks

It's what I use for mollassas. Made by evolved habitats.
I mix the mollassas 3 parts water to 1 part mollassas and bring to a boil.
Once it starts to boil I add 1 teaspoon of non iodised salt per gallon of liquid and shut it down.
I then add my white or brown sugar and water to get my S.G. where I want it. I do add some yeast nutrients and epsom salts to the ferment, this ferments out very fast.

A.D.D. and HD don't go together. This hobby takes time and dedication to learn and do it right and safe.

i also have a gallon of this same stuff and i am unsure on using it, so i went and bought a gallon of food grade blackstrap molasses. i haven't used it yet tho, my plan was to take the blackstrap and add it to cracked corn ran threw the grain mill with rolled oats, i have had one heck of a time finding sweetfeed without pellets.
