Using butyl rubber as a seal.
I've got some trouble with sealing my pot. I'm using an old coffee maker and I got to make a seal around the lid and the boiler. I'm thinking of using an old bicycle inner tube to line the top of the boiler and then slide the lid on top, but I'm not sure if this is safe. After doing some research about the tube I found it is made of butyl rubber which is listed on this website as not being ethonol resistant. What I would like to know is if I would be able to use the bicycle inner tube, and if not any other suggestions would be appreciated.
