Easy Flange 2.0

Post by butt wheat »

Tried making my first "Easy Flange", it didnt turn out as well as I had hoped. So i did a lil experimenting. This is what I came up with:
Use #4 (vs #6) bare copper wire.
1) Wrap wire around pipe prior to hammering the wire.
2) Tapped the outside edge of ring to 30-40 degree angle
3) Solder on and be done

With this method, you dont have to "build" up the flange with solder.
It takes less than 10mins before its time to solder on.
Two of them can be joined together w/ a tri clamp

The original post could have been edited, with other alternatives.
BTW your idea is good and worthy of a mention.

Nice work butt wheat! The easy flange has come a long way. I was wondering what you had used as a gasket at the boiler connection and also at the flange to flange joint? Its been some time sense your post, has there been any draw backs?

+1 for olddog for the original easy flange. Heh, the olddog came up with a new trick, what's next. :D :D :D
