Corn Syrup
Does anyone use corn syrup in there distilling. I found a moonshine recipe that uses corn syrup or molasses but it doesn't tell how much to use. The recipe gives the various ingredients and a basic how to and that's about it. I have found some other recipes here but most use corn or corn meal. I have a bunch of corn syrup that I need to use. I am going to use a small pot still and don't plan on making much, just enough to sip on. Thanks alot for such a great site. Sorry for so many questions. It's bad when a good ole' boy from Kentucky doesn't know how to make moonshine. I was deprived as a child. LOL

I wouldn't think that corn syrup would yeild much of a traditional flavor, but it will ferment. As for the amount to use, it depends on the size of wash and the type of yeast you are going to be using.
The corn syrup should have the grams of sugar per serving listed on the container. 454 grams is one pound if memory serves, so I would use enough corn syrup to provide about 800 grams ( or 1.75 lbs.) of sugar per gallon of wash if not using other sugars. Depending on the type of yeast you are using you may need more or less.

Just start with those on the site and play around with them, once you get the hang of it and understand them you may want to modify them to your liking.whitedog100 wrote: Do you have any good recipes for shine.
