Hi folks, need help identifying this wood, my brother brought it back from his camp and said it was oak but wasn't sure what kind. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

its definitely hard to shave, kinda has a sweet smell when burned, but I'm not the guy to identify wood.

It's Red Oak...the little nodes and the silver color of the bark are tell tail...I'm an Ex tree hugger!

I concur, the wood grain has a red hue to it.
