Copper type

Post by Turki »

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of an upgrade from my T500 SS column to building my own still. The idea so far is:
1.5m 4" copper pipe split into 2 pipes packed with copper SPP that i plan to make > dephlegmator > 4"x2" reducer with thermometer > 2x 90° elbows > shotgun condenser > reducers to 1/4" outlet.

My question is, is all copper good/safe to use?
The only copper pipes i could find locally have really thick walls which makes me think they are going to need some kind of support from ceiling and walls i.e. rubber clamps, threaded rod or wire. And is silver solder going to be strong enough to solder the ferrules onto them?

Attached are pics of the copper i was able to find.

I'm not worrying about the boiler for now.

Many thanks,
Turki
