Insightful short vid about ester quantities

Post by Stilljoy McFlavour »

This lab lady generally talks rum on her channel and gives an interesting chemical analysis of ester buildup, both of the kinds of esters as well as actual quantities in a particular rum

I'm subscribed to her channel. She does a great job and goes into a scientific level of nerdiness that I appreciate. She also does a good job with tasting notes and descriptions of the rum she makes and commercial ones she tastes.
The only difference between science and screwing around is writing it down.

That also shows nicely why getting true neutral from a flavoured wash is difficult. The ~5% water that's left when you've refluxed to azeo only needs a fraction of a percent of congeners to remain, to taste like a rum (for example).
