Simple but useful soldering fixture

Post by BigSwede »

After a 10 year break from the hobby, I’m thrilled to be back in the shop. I’m better at fabrication than I am making a good drop, so I’m naturally heading back into the fab world at first to get my feet wet again.

I run a combo rig mostly in a VM mode. I needed to improve/enlarge my RC, which was a bit undersized, so out came the copper from storage. I decided to simply make another, larger unit to replace the smaller. I think one of my problems is my cooling water (recirc pool water) isn’t very cool, especially in the summer. Anyway, the components for the new RC are complete, which can be another build thread if people are interested. Being solder time, I wanted to come up with a way to hold portions of the darned thing, move it, flux, add solder where needed, all the fiddly stuff associated with good soldering. Came up with this… It’s probably been done before, but it’s new to me.
