I put my first wash down over a week ago, and of course I have just used the stuff that came with the kit. The whole turbo crap etc etc. Yeah, I know, I am going to the All Bran wash next... But anyways...
Tonight I ran it through the still, and did so at 50 degrees. Kept it low and slow. Threw away the first 200m (well it went in the hand sanitiser bottle actually... and then cut it out into 300ml batches. I reckon I could taste the difference between the first 300 and say the 5th 300. But pretty similar. So much so that I ended up just putting the whole batch through the filter.
Managed to pull out somewhere the other side of 4L, or thereabouts and was around 92%. I then reduced to 45 and ran it through a filter. It tasted pretty good straight up, but I can tell you, after it was filtered, and then downed to 40, I could not really tell the difference between it and some cheap Smirnoff I had laying around LOL!
So... On to making some drinkable.
I made some Drambuie style spiced whiskey. (very nice) Not quite Drammas, but close enough to keep me smiling!
Black Sambucca - Now that is bloody good!
Baileys for the Minister for War and Finance
Tequila for the Margaritas
Put some on some staves for Bourbon, and the rest went down for my buddy who loves a good vodka! Although I double filtered that for him.
I have to say... for all that I have read with not using the turbo crap, I am pretty pleased with what I got in the end. I really can't complain, and I am enjoying the outcomes. I am going to really like experimenting with this thing, and see just what I can come up with.
Anyways... Bed time.
Cheers
