Re: Greetings from...Abroad

It depends which state you live in. Washington has the highest alcohol tax in the nation. You can find 1.75L of 40% Vodka (bottom shelf) with a shelf price of 10.99. But add the state liquor tax of $3.7708/L and then the add a 20% alcohol sales tax and you are at $19 out the door for that 10.99 bot...

I got my electronics man to wire mine up.
They come as a kit.
Unfortunately he charged like a red bull...
Anyway he installed a fan and I think it was a computer fan.

If its the bandaid taste I’ve experienced a few times , seems no amount of ageing will fix it .
You need to give up chewing bandages.

Hi. We live in our own home in a rural town in Australia of 4,000 people. About twenty-five miles from the big town of maybe 35,000. We used to own the local bakery. Fairly much employed or retired white, nominally Christian, heterosexual Anglo-Saxon somewhat over the average age. Though maybe I am ...

Deplorable said, 'It's easier, and cheaper to experiment with water to see what the ambient mean temperature in the shop is going to do to your fermenter, than it is to do it with a fermenter full of hard work.' A good guide, but the fermentation itself will (usually) raise the temperature too. Geoff

Others have said the Brita is a no-no.
Apparently it is made with plastic.

Ripeness matters. l like Bosc pears and they make a great brandy but they are best when really ripe and on the verge of spoiling. I then core, peel and freeze them. When they thaw you can mash them up. Using a sugar wash to mash them along with Red Star Couvee yeast does the trick. The product i fi...

You don't need an air lock. Just eh lid to keep the outside out. The ferment will create enough CO2 to protect the ferment. how do you know when it is through fermenting with out watching bubbles? You don't need to watch bubbles in an air lock. Look at the surface for tiny bursting bubbles, and lis...

Harvest black walnuts while green on June 24th for noccino. The Italians are specific that they be harvested on the feastday of John the Baptist. You want the nut to be embryonic and the shell soft. Aren't they supposed to be harvested by a virgin? Not sure. But virgins might be hard to find. And h...

Would have been used for beer for many years then put aside out in the weather for many more.
Haven't yet been used for distilling but I expect they will last indefinitely.
