Well thanks for the blunt, rude answer. I reckon I'll go discuss my hobby somewhere else. I thought I asked a civil question and I certainly didn't expect such a blunt response. BTW you'd be passing up some pretty good stuff if you wouldn't try mine. And also, out of all the shiners I've known over ...

tubing
Hey, not to get everyone wound up again but I have a simple question. I've been running an unpacked reflux as a potstill and at the end of my condenser I have attached a section of 9/16 vinyl tubing. It has cold distallate coming down it. It is convenient to move around from jar to jar. I've had thi...

This is my still head and has been in use for several years since this photo. It sits on a 10 gal. milk can and is heated by propane. The cooling tubes have quick connect for hoses from my well. Someday I'll take pics of it in operation. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p66/colomount/InternalReflu...

Hope I'm not repeating a question, I might of missed a page in the reading. My question is, in Ians book he says to skim the spent grain 2 or 3 time a day but it look like this method only removes the spent grain at the end of each ferment cycle. Am I reading that right? Is there a lot of spent grai...

Sorry, maybe I'm not being clear or perhaps I'm doing something wrong?? I am making a corn mash with some rye and barley malt. I double distill this, toss out the first 150ml and the rest I seperate into 200ml flasks, take the middle portion of this and mix in a little of the late heads and early ta...

Foreshots
If I am tossing the foreshots from a pot still and keeping heads and tails to redistill in a valved reflux, do I still need to toss more foreshots when I redistill the heads and tails?

nomore, You might try some small batches and see how it works. You can get a nice set of barrels from 1000oaksbarrel.com, I got a few of the five litre barrels that work great, for a pretty reasonable price. Also, if your product isn't coming out of your still tasting good then no amount of aging wi...

Thanks to all for the great information. I especially enjoyed the video. My take on this whole thing is that if I build a tower I'm ok. If I put it on a one gallon pot (useless), I'm ok. If I put it on a 10 gallon pot (practical) I would be treading on dangerous grounds. I have great neighbors so I'...
