what to do with turbo wash

My first wash was a turbo wash and is a bit harsh for me to use as a vodka. What can I use it for, Could I use it for kahlua or will the taste still come through. I have done a plain sugar wash which I am hoping to use as vodka as my mates all drink vodka but if the turbo is only good for paint stri...

Re: Novice Guide for Cuts (pot still)

I'm running a still spirits reflux still. I have done Winos sugar wash and it has been clearing for a while now. What sort of jars do you collect the spirit in to be ble to get readings from the alcometer. Would 1l preserving jars be alright or too big?

Re: Novice Guide for Cuts (pot still)

Could this guide be used for a reflux still. I have a suger wash ready for distilling. I am mainly wanting to make vodka at the moment so will not be adding any flavours hopefully.

Re: Wineos Plain Ol Sugar Wash

This has been on for 2 weeks now and seems to be stuck at approx 992-994, should I give it another couple of days? I gave it a bit of a mix up yesterday.

Re: Wineos Plain Ol Sugar Wash

Should this have a big frothy head on it. When I checked it the morning after I put it down it had frothed through the airlock. And now 2 days later It is still frothy and it is difficult to get an SG reading. I have given it a mixup the first morning but have left it alone since. The SG now reads a...

Re: Wineos Plain Ol Sugar Wash

Just got my wash underway, starting SG of 1060 and I pitched the yeast t 28deg C. So now the waiting starts It looks like I'll have to get some small glass jars to collect the distilled spirit. What do you guys use that is tall and slim enough get a reading on the alcohol guage of 100-200ml samples?...

Re: Wineos Plain Ol Sugar Wash

Right, I've got all the ingrediants for this so no more turbo washes. But I need to clarify a couple of things. How do you know where the fores finish and also where the tails start. Also when you do a 'stripping run' what do you mean by that and how do you do one, I will be using a reflux still. Is...

Re: Hi from NZ

Hi, Im using a stillspirits reflux still. Hopefully I wont need the filter again after this lot. I have only glued it to pass this batch through, as I couldn't justify spending $120 on a new filter to use once. Cheers for the reply to my PM Kiwi, I saw the yeast salts and thought they may be it. May...

Hi from NZ

I have been lurking here for the last couple of weeks, unfortunatly I found this place after I brought the ingrediants for my first wash. I have fermented and distilled my first turbo wash which wasn't a huge success, ending up with 4 litres of 63%. I'm going to try the sugar wash in the tried and t...
