Looks perfect. Epsom salts; I read it on this forum. Maybe just my imagination, but it seemed to stimulate activity at the beginning. We're talking 1/4 tsp. in an 80 liter wash in my case.

Guten tag,

Get yourself a hygrometer to check SG at start, during and at the end. This is important. A pinch of epsom salts just helps the process.

Later posts by myself and others have suggested a better starting point is around SG 1.07 otherwise you are fine. I would consider your wash finished.

It does not have to be clear, nor do you add any clearing agents. Let it settle for a day and into your still.

Hi Gavin, 1 cup equals 240 ml. My ethanol has never had a tomato smell, more a mild sugary odour. I agree with Marc, SG 1.09 is too high, my last wash wash was 1.07 at start, about a week to finish. I have never used charcoal to filter. I'll say it again; using Turbo yeasts is simply a waste of mone...

During our Winters, down to -35 C, cooling is not a problem. Cheers.

Pineapple Liqueur. Sounds interesting.

Have you considered adding some spices, herbs etc.

Vanilla bean and or ginger comes to mind.

Keep us posted. I love making liqueurs. Working on a Grand Marnier substitute at the moment.

I made a smoothie yesterday. Strawberries (10), banana (1), ice, about 12 oz. of mango juice. 2 oz. birdwatcher vodka. Into a blender.

How much sugar. Should be around 4-5 Kg. if less, make up.

Add 35 grams of bakers yeast. Fleischmanns is fine.

Difficult operating without hydrometer.

Temperature between 26C to 30C OK. Sprinkle yeast all over surface and then stir in. Stir once daily, then leave it alone. Don't fuss trying to speed up the process. It takes a week or so for SG to drop to .995. What was your staring SG? Check daily. I never use an airlock, just keep covered with a ...
