Good tips, thank you. I have just finished distilling my very first wash. I kind of meant it to be a rum wash, but I don't think I fed the yeast enough molasses- it ended up being only about 1 kg (all I could get) to 6 kg of dextrose. In any case, what I have now smells like vodka with a bit of meth...
