My Stills Performance
15.5 gallon keg 2" x 44" SS column I ran a small 5 galllon batch a few nights ago. I tell you what, every time i run this thing I am more amazed on how well it runs. (it pretty much runs itself) Running this run in pot still mode, very little to no relux, no column packing. Took me about ...

Re: Gerber
Made a 2 Gallon test batch about a week ago I just got done running it. From 2 gallons I collected 2.2 cups. at 80% I then added 1 cup water to make 3 cups @ 55 - 60 proof Nice little recipe, I love how flat it finished. The sugar / water / yeast ratio is optimized nicely. Everything works, no stuck...

Re: reflux still run like pot still
I haven't done anything from what I collected. I thought I should cut at 50% and run it again. I don't know exactly how the cuts are with the way that ran. I would appriecate any help. If you collected between the correct temps. it should be fine to drink. May have a lil heat to it. If so, double d...

Re: Still finished, first wash on!!!!
there are calculators on the parent site that will help you in your calculations How Much to Collect here what i got 25L of wash (assuming its 12% ABV) And taking in the fact that you will never get 100% of the alcohol from your run. Distilled, should have 3.9L of product @ 60% ABV ( or better known...

the peaches does sound pleasant. I could imagine the faint taste and aromas infused into likker. My current runs have consisted of molasses rum backset. About to run my 3rd gen. of it. The last run I did, I took 1 quart, peeled 4 apples and added peelings to the quart along with a few chunks of appl...

Doubled ingredients in this 1 Gallon recipe for a total 2 Gallons.
Store was out of Barley Grain so I had to get Mixed Grain
It started chugging away 20 minutes after pitching yeast.
Will be back later to update....

Re: Best Run Yet
double distilled is a little better than single runs.
Reflux would give you a cleaner/neutral more drinkable likker.

Re: Hard Apple Cider
After about a week or fermentation mine has slowed down, but is still working. Poppped top and tasted, i really didn't notice any apple flavors. And not to mention it hit my stomach like a liquid pipe bomb . I've considered topping it up to 3 gallons with 50/50 juice & water. Add more sugar and ...

Re: Pintoshine's Fast Fermenting Molasses Wash
After my initial run I was happy with the result. With a 44" column, no packing, no insulation, no reflux. I pulled a final 172 proof from the spirit run. I ran it lightly collecting 1.2 Liters , stopping at around 186 degrees and collecting in a low wines jar from there. Flavor was decent, it ...

Thinkin about doin this as like a wine. Could i use bakers yeast, wouldnt have to change the method would i? Yes you can use bakers yeast if you like. No you shouldn't have to change anything. Just keep in mind, the more alcohol you make, the less apple cider favor will be present. But in the end y...

Re: Best Run Yet
Everyone has their own way they like to run their still. When making a stripping run the object is to get most of the ethanol out as quick as possible. Most people will strip it fairly hard and collect about 1.0 gallon from a 5 Gallon wash. This will be collected over several runs and all will be re...

Re: Hard Apple Cider
okay, so you distilled it down to Apple Brandy 3 quarts @ 75% ABV , wow I'd love to get that kind of return from a 5 Gallon wash I usually get 1qt @ 90%+ or 1.5qt @ 80%+ from my 5 gallon washes. And if i add water, then I get around 3 quarts @ 80 proof. Did the apple flavors carry through? Pot Still...
