Stories like that have been floating around the beer boards for a few years now. Most of the time the "woman" calls the beer "Clambic"

Ran my second batch yesterday. I added 1 tbs of mulling spices to 750ml of 125 proof. This stuff is already dangerously wonderful smelling. I think this is going to go very fast. I also kept the majority of the hearts of the run seperate have about 750ml of 145 proof rum that is smooth as silk. Some...

Molassis and Sulphur

How do you know if the molassis you buy is sulphured or not? I recently ran a 6 gallon batch or rum and collected about 2l of 150 proof likker. The tails smelled and tasted burned. I also got a bit greedy and the likker has a bit of a burned aftertaste, but is otherwise smooooooth. It took a long ti...

The yeast settled real nice. I ended up with a yeast cake about 1/2" thick. I wondered about others experience with this yeast. It took a while to chew through my wash, and is goin a bit slow on the second time around too. Of course it has been a bit cold here lately. I should probably start he...

Here is my solution... works pretty good! http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/1683/0104071848yq1.jpg Also, I've cut out the lids of a whole lot of kegs for homebrewers. I've found that an angle grinder with a metal cutting blade will cut through it in about 10 minutes just be sure to finish the edges...

Hey City Boy.....I really like that union to the keg you have. I did the usual "cut out the top" thing as I want to be able to get in and scrub(because I'm positive I will screw something up sometime and burn it) Thanks! I've cut a keg for someone else before. I wasn't happy with any way ...

Here's mine. Just ran a batch of rum yesterday. Ended up with approx 1/2 gallon of 150 proof! Have the second batch fermenting now. The column is 16" of 2" copper the 24" stainless condenser (1/2") was made by brewhaus (nicely made and well priced = happy customer!) http://img407...

I built mine out of 2" copper used reducers to get it down to 3/4" and a 45 deg off to a 24" stainless condensor. To attach it to the keg I use a tri-clover clamp and a cork gasket. To build the base I cut off the neck of a sankey keg and had a friend machine out the inside for a very...

Thanks for the suggestions! It is not too late for anything right now. I'm going to use a 7.5 gallon keg for a boiler. Just big enough for 5 gallons of wash. How narrow on the condenser? I have some 3/8ths soft copper but thought the 1" would be better.

Building a new Pot Still

Hi Everyone, I'm sure this has been posted before and I've read most of the posts, but I'm lookin for a bit more feedback. I'm getting ready to build a new pot still. I have 26" of 2" copper for the column and plan for a 24" condenser made up of 1" coming off the main column jack...
