I used a scratch awl and a pair of curved needlenose. Worked well on both kegs.

Oh I read you loud and clear Punkin! That was a full out run on the hotplate. Thermo read 205. I never turned it down. Drip, drip, drip and no stream. Too small a riser and too little heat, I'm guessing.

Thanks Gents! The potstill and electric hotplate allows me to be incognito, but I have a pony keg and 2" pipe ready to be soldered. Just have to find an out of the way place to run it. In the meantime, I still pull 150 mL of fores per pot and then strip what I can get, accumulating for a "...

I have another 3 gallons, but only a 16 qt pot. That 1-1/2" has to be the ticket. I just thought stripping yields (all things considered) would be higher. Guess not.

Two gallons of sugar wash run at 195 F and the best I can get is 950 mL in 6 hours. I think I figured out my problem. A 3/4" pipe is just too small to allow sufficient vapor pressure/accumulation to rise, travel into the liebig, and recondense in the worm. I'm going to rework this pot and go wi...
