Glad to be back home been out of town working for 51/2 months no time for you know what been satisfing my thirst with george dickle and wl weller sr. nothing like the home brew though got some of uncle jesses mash going and working on a new pot still ahh hell got my buzz on its just good to be home ...

If I have read right from some of the threads on this sight you should not ferment in aluminum but you can use it for a boiler as long as you keep it clean and dry in between each use although I recomend stainless

Awe this is great to i have been strugling with bakers yeast and the heat i have a couple of gallons that i am going to use some carbon on to make mixing hooch

I also use white oak toasted and chared in the same jar with a couple of pepper corns and let it breath I havent tried hikory or apple yet the hickory is abundant but ill have to spot me a pple tree some where

There are alot of posts on this forum on this subject take your time and read chare some white oak and toast some white oak cut your hooch to50 to60% jar it up watch and taste you could also through in a couple of pepper corns in if you like the idea is to see what both will do age to your liking ch...

I use astainless 5gal milkcan with a lid it has avalve in it for breathing perposes also 15 gal stainless keg that i keep a strainer bag on top forbreathing and to keep bugs out when iam working sour mash ill have to try my carboy good luck

Satdown and opened a qt of my first succesful run sitting on oak with a couple of pepper corns aged just over a month man smooth a little sweet and suttle oak going down thanks for all the help and the fourm im just totaly blown away to how good it is THANKS

Ive read you can soak the brass in a solution of white vinager and peroxide to remove the small amount of lead if there is any I soaked myne untill they got shiney but stoped before it turned black

The condencer that i built has 15ft 3/8 od i cut it in half and made a double coil and the keg is duplicate to my boiler in size what is great is that it is so effichent that it will cool my 55 gallon water barrel 1/2in should be better or equal to this in the same length

You can still buy them new they are sold for drinking water and other beverages I also would not use a used jug that I did not know the history on

go to a plumbing supply early in the morning and ask a plumber not a contractor you may get lucky and get what you need I can get 20 ftmin of 2inch for 85 bones at a plumbing supply with out a contracter licence

Well I thought about my post and I think I am getting pickey about my shine and stoped to soon and that the still is working more efichent at a lower temp and learning to have alot more patience is the key the still is better than i am a rumrunner cant wait for the next run :oops:

Well today I ran a 5 gal.suger corn wash I took my time this time caught the fients & heads between 65&70C I ran the still at 70&75C caught 1qt.smelled and looked great my still wanted to stay around 69&73C fluxuating up and down but it never reached 78C or even80C unless i poored on...

Allen42 Ialso do not have a out let valve on my condencer makes me think though I can put a in line valve in my water line going back to my sump or just keep it off during this time and run the water when it the still gets to temp
