Re: left wash in fermenter for a long time. is it safe
I have let them sit for a year before without problems, in fact, I think it made a cleaner neutral.

Risktaker? A 10% wash is not flammable. I think your right on track with the times, my VM can run 12 gallons from start to finish in about 8 hours.

Re: Bakers yeast
The amount used in most of the recipes. Are to keep the lag time to a minimum. So an infection doesn't have time to take hold. You can use less with no problems. But I would recommend making a starter instead of pitching dry. At least rehydrate them proper before pitching. This is what I have found...

Re: First run
Birdwatchers recipe is a very clean neutral, not sure how it would turn out aged on oak. It will probably taste like wood flavored vodka, most folks oak whiskeys....but hey....give it a shot and let us know what ya think.

Re: Can a mash go bad?
You hava a wash....not a mash. It is approx. 10% alcohol, should not be a problem...i have ran birdwatchers recipe as you have several months after it finished working, with no issues. Just taste a little before you charge your pot to see if it tastes like beer.

It will work for ya, just try and step the reducer down in a few fittings instead of all at one time, i remember someone on here saying that reducing too quick would hinder vapor traffic.

Give us an msds on silicon tape. It will not tolerate high temp. Alcohol vapors without breaking down. I hope no hd members take this as an acceptable sealant unless we are finally proved wrong.Tellmeboutit wrote:Look up self fusing pure silicon tape.(for use on stills)
