Re: shiny's crib

That's quite neat, I like that, do you stash your fermenters and stuff away as well?

Re: The clearing process

I'd rack it off into another clean fermenter to let it clear out for a week or so.

Re: Better Operation of a Brew Shop CM Still (novice guide)

If I plan to stop my run half way through to attend it at a later date I keep the cooling water pumping for around 20 min, just to keep whatever is in the steam in the unit and not coming out the condenser. I haven't had any smells to date from stopping a run.

Re: Ink

Man that is a lot of colour condensificator, looks sweet but! I try and stick with black and grey but thats just my personal preference. My grandfather had 2 full sleeves and the colour faded out of his long before he passed. I know thats because of the old inks that they used to use but I can never...

Re: Can you store your wash? how long?

I think you will find that once you get into it you will want to distill way more than 4L at a time, I run 2 25L fermenters and am almost finished my potstill so I can run it all at once to save doing 2 runs.

Re: Do's and Dont's

This morning I siphoned off into separate containers and washed out the fermenters to get what had settled overnight out and then put the wash back in to settle again, will probably do this twice more before I run it up on the weekend, will this have any detrimental effect or just make it cleaner?

Do's and Dont's

Yesterday, degassed 50L of WPOSW, I just want to ask whether anyone has a list of Do's and Dont's that they have found in their travels for degassing and clearing the wash before they fire up the boiler, I don't want to make some mistake where I'm losing the alcohol in the wash because of some silly...

Re: SAFETY

Keeping it in detached from your house means that IF by some chance something dangerous happens and insurance is needed, your house insurance isnt instantly voided because you are doing something illegal (in Aus, they will cancel it straight up if they find it has anything to do with illegal activity)

If you can't get the hookup from a bartender or some friends for bottles try an IKEA if you have one near you, I get jars from there to use for macerations and picked up some bottles on my last visit. The ones I got hold around 1.25L
