dilute blackstrap 4 to 1 with rainwater, add 1 tablespoon of dap and pitch the EC1118. You should have about 1
8% in 3-4 days. Makes a good rum.

Re: Grounding
I cannot speak for everyone, but those of us operating with electric elements SHOULD have an equipment ground attached to the bioler, which in turn is attached to the column.

New column build. Trays, or solder in place?
So guys. I currently have a column with 6 bubble cap trays (pics on here somewhere), but have the itch to build another with modular sections of 4 trays each. Here's the question. My current setup has trays with sides on them, and the whole array of trays can be slipped down into the column. For my ...

Re: Koval Seminar
I attended Last fall. Although I found it informative, they do push their product. I wish it would have been more hands on.

Amount of packing?
I have a Bokakob design that is about 48" high, not including the head, and is packed with copper mesh I bought from Mile Hi. My question is I think I have too much packing? I rolled up sections until they fit snug inside the column, and stacked them until I filled it up. every time I run this ...

First true reflux run
Morning all. I cranked up the Bokakob for a first complete running after all the cleaning runs a couple of weeks ago. Ran a 10 gallon UJSSM. Here's how she did before I start with the questions. Threw out about a pint, then collected 8 pints nice and clear ( 190 all the way down to around 60) after ...

Thanks Guys. Got a batch of UJSSM bubbling away as we speak. Also got a 55 gallon drum of molasses and one of raw sugar headed my way. (it's nice to have a pal at a sugar mill)

Thanks for all the advice... First one's a success!
My first run in the pot still was 12 gallons of sweet feed mash. I didn't have any hydrometers to do the wash, so I just followed the recipe as posted here. It fermented out in 5 days, so I racked it off and put it in the fridge to clear overnight. I started nice and slow Saturday Morning. Almost fo...

Re: Couldn't decide...
Did a cleaning run last night on the pot still (after shortening the height as suggested). 1 gallon of venigar in 2 gallons of water with about a cup of peroxide. The innards of all the piping is nice and pink. I ran this for about 45 minutes. Is this long enough?

Re: Couldn't decide...
Thanks for the input guys. I left em both long until I got some comments. My dad used to own a plumbing business, and I actually scrounged up most of the fittings in some of his old stuff I have stored in my shed. I probably could have bought new ones if I take in to account the time I spent cleanin...

Couldn't decide...
So I'm building both! OK Gurus of the distilling world, this is my first time with this stuff, so don't pull any punches. I decided to build a Bokakob design as well as a straight up pot design, All I'm lacking is the hardware to fasten either one to the keg. What about the column lengths? Too long?...

Hi from Bayou Country
I've been reading and absorbing for a while now, and decided to take the plunge and do a couple of builds. I'm lookin forward to any and all constructive criticism I can get and learn from.
