Re: thumpificator v2.3
tried it both ways. seemed to work better with the pill gettin chilled first. there is a central fin of 3/16" plate running down the center of the pill, so the coldest water transfers the coolness well without being overcome by the vapor.

....no, i added it shortly after the o.g. was made. the shredder couldn't keep up with full 5500W stripping, even with full blast cold water. the pill worked it all out, and now, i just use it fer everything.

it will be a while before i come anywhere close to mastery! sh*t is hard and i don't have much time to learn. i can definitely see that it's possible. here's a little mini pot project that a friend of mine and his professional welder buddy started: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_X5yYy9GdibU/Tbru...

Re: TIG Welding joints
i've been trying some copper to copper with copper fill for my new project... very tricky, much different than steel. it takes a sh*t ton of heat to get started, then you have to cut heat way, way back and be really careful not to burn through. seems like if you don't do the entire joint on the firs...

yes sir! looking great. i might have to find one piece to engine turn on mine. i am gonna go with a dark forced patina on it, so one shiny turned piece would be a nice contrast. prolly the phlegm killer.

looking very nice. up to date, simple, classy. seems like with some tweaking and function testing, it is going to be perfect. will the content be getting updated as well. i know it will be a huge undertaking, but it will be a lot less confusing for people just starting. with the old "refer to t...

correction...the simple homemade damascus recipe is 1018 and O-1...not 1018 and 1095. You have some nice tools. mrs. condensificator says that all the time!! I'm a much more shadetree kinda blacksmith. I already decided this knife will be made with some damascus stock. I'd love to learn to make my own, but I just don't have that kind of time or equipment. Maybe one day. you can pull...

thanks guys. yep, i have been drooling over this one for many, many years. JD, if you are gonna get into damascus making, a hydraulic press is what most damascus makers use. this is a pic of mine. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_X5yYy9GdibU/SMB_xbH8HHI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/3Mwcj2AfkEs/s400/press.jpg i get all of m...

looking great dude. you are very persuasive with that copper! how often did you anneal it while you were working down that lip? how bigga balls does that harbor freight expander have to expand copper...like could you turn 2-1/2" into 2-3/4" or 2-7/8"? i went down that same path with t...

If I had that out in front of my house Luke that. I would have to sit on the front porch with the boomstick. Nice! I made this one out of a piece of railroad track. i've got a couple of those. i use the big one all of the time for joinery work. has a good amount of weight to hold stuff down, and the shapes come in handy for rigging/propping freehand stuff together: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_X5yYy...

Any blemishes on it are barely blemishes on the surface. I did not note any pitting..Does have markings but I did not take note. Only took the one pic. the edges are a little beat up, and painted anvils are always suspect. a lot of times, the paint job was done to hide something like a crack or rep...
