Odin, I use the following 30L barrel as fermenting vessels; PE-HD 30L.jpg PE-HD logo.jpg They come with lid and a seperate iron ring for total closure, also handy if you want to store grains in them. I've also bought a 120L one to be used as a cooling vessel for stripping runs... They are used but c...

Can't tell you where it's used for, looks nice though....but if you are planning to give it a function other than just a decorative one, i would be careful, do a lead test on that solder first, big chance it's containing lead and we do not want lead contaminating our boose...

Today i made some Sweet Tea Vodka as from Maritime's recipe . For 1L sweet tea @ 36% i poured 380ml @95% (hearts from All Feints spirit run) in a jar, added 520ml water and the syrup of 75gr sugar dissolved in 100ml water. For the tea i used 2 Earl Grey tea bags of 4gr each, steeped them approx. 6 h...

Odin, i did my last All Bran as follows; for a 25L wash 5 kg sugar 5 cups All Bran flakes (by cups i mean the volume of a large coffee cup with uncrunched flakes, i crush them later on...) 3 tsp boiled yeast 11 tbsp yeast (i use Bruggeman instant dry yeast, the blue/yellow 500gr packages) 21,5 L wat...

dh13, have you thought of using something like this? it's almost the same as what i have used for my boiler, i bought mine second hand, it holds around 25-28L and has in internal heating element (has no direct contact with liquid) you will need a controller however to bypass the thermostat. weck-inm...

Re: Hi y'all
Welcome dh13, That 8L boiler you're planning to use would give you a very small yield, say 5/6L wash @10% that would give you about 0.5L destilate from which you also have to make cuts. Go a step larger and find yourself a half barrel / pony keg (if a 50-60L keg is too big for your needs), you will ...

Hi Usge, thanks for the clarification, i (thought i) understand the way a LM still functions, i've done some succesfull spirit runs on my Bok, the reason for my question was that when i started out reading on how to operate a Bok, i read in several posts that the watertemp of the condenser's output ...

Big step Henk! The trend for handmade local products is seriously growing, and your location (an island well known by tourists and nature lovers) is helping, no doubt. With that base ingredients on hand, you could make a rice Vodka for example, if Vodka is your thing of course.... Head over to the Tried and True Recipes and search for 'Uncle Remus Rice Vodka'. Hi Lil_Stewie, You could also go the electric way and place your still with element in boiler on the kitchen floor, that's the way i do it (also a workingspace problem) and if you want to do a stripping- or pot still run you can place your still on the sink.... Re: My 2nd Still - LM/VM hybrid
Thanks Chiller for your info, i was under the impression that a VM produces faster output than a Bok, (taken same specs of column and %ABV of Bok and VM in account) that was mainly the reason for the modification. A 2x2x1" T will set me back around 50$ and a 1" SS gate valve another 30 - 4...
