Re: sellin bacca
I cropped it and hung it when I was a kid in the Eastern NC bacca belt. We hated sand lugg'n the worst. We would catch snakes and put them in the bacca drag. Back at the barn the girls would take the bacca outta the drags and string it up on sticks to hang. You could hear 'em scream when a snake cam...

Re: whats your music
I really like all types of music, as long as it's Lynyrd Skynyrd... Actually I also enjoy listening to Eric Church, CDB, Eric Clapton, ZZTop, Hank Jr, Kenny Chesney, David Allen Coe, Robin Trower, Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, Super Grit and a few others as well.

Re: yeast suggestion for all grain scotch?
Why don't you try some Nottingham. It's a fairly neutral yeast and isn't it very similar to US-05? I tried some in a sweet feed mash and everyone liked the end result. It should ferment out in 3-4 days also.

Re: What'd ya'll make today?
Well, this past week I ran my 2nd. gen. batch of UJSSM. The first batch I ran was not really a true UJSSM as I added 1# of all-grain Sweet Feed and a 1/2# of some Crystal-15 barley malt I had laying around. I decided to dump all of the 1st run back into my still for the 2nd. run. For the 2nd. gen ma...

Re: old still site
Interesting thread, my dad's family is from Johnston County. My grandpappy was a preacher in and around Kenly. He grew up around the Little River near Niagra church on Bagly Rd/Rain's X-Road area. I played and fished along the river as a kid. My grandma's brother was said to work for Percy at one ti...

Re: What'd ya'll make today?
Well, I made an all-grain mash yesterday with 13 lbs. of pale ale malt and ended up with 5 gallons with a SG of around 1.055-1.060 to ferment. After cooling it in my cube igloo ferment-a-cooler I pitched a packet of Nottingham yeast. This afternoon it seemed like it was having a tough time getting s...

Howdy & Good Mornin'
Just thought I'd log-in and say hello from Central Florida. I've been brewing beer for a couple of years and I'm anxious to make the jump to spirits. Looks like there's a ton of good information I need to digest before getting started. Cheers!
