Re: Sweet Potato Vodka
Im thinking of trying to convert sweet potato sugars. Here is what I have found on the subject. Raw sweet potatoes have a lot of sugar, and even more starch. Cooking them activates enzymes which convert some the starch into even more sugar. You can maximize this enzyme action - and thus the amount o...

I also have a kerosene tower heater may beef up the cage to hold the boiler. The flame is encased, may be harder to haVE AN ACCIdent with that kind of set up.

I heat my home with a ventless propane heater.
As far as using a flame for your runs, some of you guys have your distillate outlet too close to your flame, no matter where you run, including myself. And since I now realize that I will change it before my next run.

Re: uses for wash
I just used the backset from All-Bran wash to clean my tub, I was dumping it out and said to myself what the hell. Stopped the tub up and started washing the soap scum and stuff from the tub. Usually my wife takes an hour or 2 to get the results I got in 5 min or so. Next run I will attempt the toil...

I just tested my parrot with water and air did back up, but the water I put through the parrot was quite a bit harder than I run my still so maybe thats why it is backing up.

Frank looks to be an Alabama Fan! I like it too, ditto on boiler size. I mean look at big AL. When he is standing tall he has a pot belly and his trunk(column) high.
Anyways it looks good...especially with clothes.

Re: Fermenter shape research?
I use the same type plastic barrel with my some of my fermentations.I never fill them all the way, but I'd like too, my boiler just isnt that big(6gal.)
I have thought about laying them down as well.
I seem to like the idea of using a conical but they are just too expensive.

I just check my wash today. I wasnt too impressed in the beginning with the wine yeast then today it looks as if it is slow rolling boil and it smells as my 5 day fermenting gerber. I just pitched Premier Cuvee Red Star Dry Wine Yeast @ 8:35pm CST.
I aerated the piss out of it with a whisk inserted in a drill.
See how long it takes to start working.
8 gallon @aprox 10%

Grainhopper you shouldn't need the multivitamins. That is what the all bran cereal is there for. And it has plenty in it. Maybe a pinch of Epson salt would be all you need to add. My cereal wasnt as fortified as others. I used a brand named shurfine. I may add the epsom salt. BTW guys I also read u...
