Re: Pot Still Build
I've scrapped the glass thumper, became a slight inconvenience over time. I have since made two different lyne arms that work incredibly
I'll have to save the thumper idea for another project, another day.

I appreciate the advice Vetting. I've been using these ever since with wash and spirit runs since Oct 2011 with absolutely no leak problems, or any problems for that matter. I have a multi-piece lyne that can be converted from a fractional reflux with a detachable liebig into a 12" tall lyne wi...

Here's my first go round at silver soldering and making some soldered lyne arms. Tell me what you think of them and what I could improve on for next time :D They're basic, and are currently running a 16th Generation UJSSM. This is one of the two lynes. Specs: Vertical 3/4"x9", Horizontal: ...

The liebig before the thumper is nothing more than visual reference for aesthetics, I was still judging whether or not to have a single run or a thumper to condenser type rig. Sorry for the confusion. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Thanks fellas, I found a nice 25qt SS pot with a lid that I can clamp with bulldog clips, for a bit more, but from what you tell me, is definitely worth it in the long run
Thanks again guys

Enamelware Boiler
Is it safe to use an EnamelWare 20qt pot as a boiler? I don't want to step on any toes or ask a question that's been answered
But if you could point me in the direction of knowledge and insight, it'll be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I noticed at the end the taste started to diminish and it tasted like trace heads and hearts, I guess it was the apples, but I tried it again (the recipe) and it tasted great all the way through, I let the apples and such soak for a bit longer this time, maybe 3 days? Try it and post your feedback :)

I set up a 5 gallon water cooler with UJ's recipe word for word  came out to an even 11% and the mash has a nice grainy smell already  according to UJ and several others I'll have to keep backsetting until about the 4-5th time to start getting a nice flavor. I have a few questions, i...

I agree with fastill, I have a 1/4 coil condenser and it take a long dern time for my brew to start pouring out, then again I do have 16 coils and I'm using 10' of it
My output comes out in the 40º F range all the way through..

I've been working on a mellow brandy wash for a while, consisting of a mix of pineapples, strawberries, raspberries, and half an apple. Re: How far - collecting jar
Corndog, there are safer alternatives than plastic tubing, except for fermenting, you should steer clear of using plastics, try and use copper tubing like 1/2" or 3/8". As long as your ventilation is good and you pay attention to your still and everything that comes out of it. I HIGHLY rec...

Somewhere in between moves, I have misplaced my old 20L, so I'm doing VERY small 1.5L stripping runs, which make work pretty tedious.. I'm getting pretty close to finding it, I have about 4 more boxes to dig through. I'm thinking of inviting some friends over, having a keg or two and just using that...

Have you looked at the parent site? There's a good amount of info on there about pot stills :egeek: I recommend reading the entire thing, even with running a pot still, it's always a good reference. I'd start with that recipe, and invest in a 20L/5gal Stainless Steel pot or keg at the very least, an...

Yep, I have to admit that I'm also curious. EDIT: AHHHHHHH 40c :!: :!: Must be using ice in the condenser water for some unknown reason. I guess I was over cautious when I made my condenser, ans sometimes those runs can last long, I'd rather have the output too cold than too hot. comes out 40ºF-60º...
