Re: Where do I get a keg?
People here get touchy over the lagality of that question. I wont say how I got mine, so no one gets mad at me.... but the forums answer would be: 'contact your local distrobuter, I am sure they have some scrap kegs to sell'.

Re: Winemaking - How much sugar to add?
+1 on kellers website. You need to tailor the ammount of sugar in your musts to the toxicity level of your yeasts... ie, if you use a Montrochet, you need to add enough sugars to hit a 12% ABV, If you use an 118, you can add enough sugars to hit 19% ABV. I think... (and my memory is pretty bad) that...

Before your next brew-day, buy some blow off tubing. Just hit the home improvement store, and get some clear tubing you can jam in the neck of the carboy instead of the airlock, and run the other end into a jar full of sanitising solution.... this keeps the airlock from turning into a ballistic obje...

Most of the wine went into beer kegs and this was just a few leftover gallons. Probably going to be pretty oxidised, may just concentrate them... Thanks guys. Sounds l...

I typed out a monster post...then hit the left thumb button on my mouse.... dammit! So let me paraphrase: I'Ve never used the yeast you mentioned, but if it is a dry yeast, dont try to propogate it in a starter for future generations. Use the Cake method reccomended in the UJSM thread. Dry yeasts ar...

Reminds me of the time I went to the LHBS and asked about a sight glass for my boiler. I asked about the way the glass was joined to the fitting.
