Have done my first batch which I did in a 5 gallon fermenter so I reduced sugar content to 7lbs. SG of 1055, let it run and then put through my pot, only got 3.5 ltrs of 40% but it is very clean and tasteless (what I was after). Welcome aboard Maynard, You have gotten a lot of peoples attention with your first still plans, and lots of comments. I would like to agree with all those that said build it and then start thinking/planning your next still. It is an infectious hobby and there are always lots of ways of doing things....

Thanks for sharing your experience and info. Have ordered 100 watt heater to go into my 25ltr fermenter and will leave airstone until I see something positive about them.

Thanks PP, I am based in UK, my man cave is in a shed in my garden, at the moment temp in shed is minus 2 celsius, rarely gets above 15 celsius so need some additional heat. At present am using very old heating mat but that is not man enough to get 25 ltrs up to anything like fermenting temp even th...
