I agree this board is very good compared to many. Maybe it has something to do with the 200 proof product it is dedicated to :)

A run down on bicarb. After a stripping run, add a healthy ammount of bicarb. (I would do it to the point where it is saturated, IE there is a small ammount remaining on the bottom undisolved.) Let this sit for as long as possible. (up to 2 weeks for best effects) Distill. Lots of discussion, and th...

I did a landscaping job for a beer sales man once :) he commented about the gay bars, they have tons of money because they generally do not have large families, so great ammounts of disposable income. And they like to party. He said the majority of his business is from gay bars :)

Why are you using an airstone? It would seem to me that you would not want to aerate a batch that has already been fermented, I would think that this would increase the risk of infection. Plus you might start making vinegar :) Also, You would probably gain more by simply doing a fast and dirty strip...

I didnt think that glass did a very good job with the transfer of heat. No where as well as copper, and it is breakable (a very bad thing with me around)

I think both sugars are the same thing, white sugar is derived from cane :)
Also, I can get sugar for $0.35 a pound a costco (25lb bags) $8 something a bag. Is that about as cheap as I will be able to find anywhere?

Question about different designs.

When I was first starting to read about the art of distillation, I stumbled upon the moonshinestill.com's valved reflux design. http://moonshine-still.com/Photo/ExternalStillHead1.jpg This design up until now had been my planned design. However after looking at some of the pictures on homedistiller....

Go with pure copper scrubbers, or better yet, some structured packing from mile-hi or brewhaus.
The copper helps to catalyze out bad flavors and tastes.
