Another forum I frequent has a certain thread for drunk people to post in. Maybe we should start one here.

My girlfriend and I had been dating for over a year when we decided to get married. My parents helped us in every way, and my friends encouraged me. My girlfriend? She was a dream! There was only one thing bothering me. That one thing was her younger sister. My prospective sister-in-law was twenty y...

As THM said, other factors can give you a hangover, things like dehydration for example. But if you don't get one then I suppose it's reasonable to assume that there's not enough methanol to worry about.

My keg is SS and a magnet will stick to it, just not very well. A strong magnet would be best for this test.

Also you could try eating it and seeing if you get Alzheimers.

I do stripping runs because I make vodka in a pot still which takes about 3 runs. I'd say you will get a noticeable difference in quality and probably less flavour. Just try it and see what you like better.

Yeah, plastic is no good. Not just for safety reasons, but the moment you start discussing the possibility of a plastic still on this forum, you will have several people ranting about the evils of plastic. And rightly so, in my opinion.

Here's what you do, man: Get a large, watertight container with a screw-on lid, like a 60L fermenter, and bury it in your backyard with just a thin layer of grass on the lid. Then you can store a decent-sized still in there and whip it out when you're going to use it. You can make smaller containers...

Yeah, small stills really do suck. My still is about 8 litres and it's a pain to strip a 25 litre wash because it takes 4 stripping runs. A 2 litre still would be rediculous.

Keg top

I am using a keg as the boiler for my new still, and I want to keep the top bit with the threads so I can screw in the rest of the still. However, I want to be able to open it up for cleaning, installing element, etc. So what I want to do is cut an opening with an oxy-acetylene torch or something, a...

You don't need to add any water. It would be counterproductive. You could only blow yourself up if your still was leaking vapour.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I guess I'll probably go with a big plastic rubbish bin, I never thought of that but it's a good idea. I'll get the standard 20 feet of tubing too I guess, I just hope it doesn't make my wallet too much lighter.

New coil

Since my still is small I'm making a new one, and I'm using a coil in a bucket for my condensor. I've seen some people saying they have 20 foot coils. Is 20 feet really necessary? It sounds expensive. I'm using 1/2 inch copper tubing. Also I don't know where to get a big enough bucket. I want it to ...

No way I'd drink it straight, but I have a funny story about a guy who did. He spent most of the day sleeping, and probably spe...

It's funny because it's true

This is a variation on the jokes thread: stuff that's funny and true. Here's a starter, from the Sydny Morning Herald: Great moments in international distilling. Sanctuary Point reader Bob Graffham tells of a Japanese whisky label which brags "Made with Genuine Scottish Grapes". He wonders...
