Re: home brew beer kits for distilling => simple whiskey
Crap! I was going to ask the same thing. My dad got out of beer making (cancer, survived and doc said no alcohol) so I have 5 beer kits. A couple I noticed said they had hops, not sure about the rest. Hopped malt is just bad eh? Nothing you can do? I could actually drink it as beer I suppose...but ...

home brew beer kits for distilling => simple whiskey
Hi, i've considering trying to make whiskey for my first time, and after reading about the UJSM (uncle jesse simple sour mash) method it seems there is one big issue for me: I don't want to make 2 initial batches before I actually start getting drinkable whiskey. So I have been thinking about making...

Just a quick tip Brewmaster if u are still having leaks (someone told me on this forum). A great non-toxic sealant is to use flour and water (ie dough) to plug up leaks. Make it to whatever consistency u want, then just smear it on. It will bake hard and also has the advantage of being a weak point ...

Tips for sealing boiler lid
Hi, I would post a pic but I am blog retarded and can't figure out how. Anyway I'll see if I can explain: I just read some horror stories about vapour leakage from stills and I realised that I have a serious issue with vapour leakage from my boiler. My boiler is a 20L stock pot similar to the one in...

Personally I'd rather waste a tiny bit more electricity than a hell of a lot more water to maintain the temp at the top of my column at whatever I want it. I just finished my final project on distilling ethanol (and I still don't understand it deeply, im not sure McCabe or Thiele do either.). I can ...

White rum and dark rum from the same mash
Hi everyone, I am about to distill my first attempt at rum tomorrow and I am curious to know if I can get white rum (for the ladies) and dark rum from the same distillate by different flavouring methods? My mash is 25L fermented from 4L dark molasses and 4kg sugar with turbo yeast. My still is an in...
