Re: A simple airlock method for plastic water jugs

I'm using 32 gallon rubber maid trash cans to do my fermentation's. I only use the lids to cover them and No problems. I used to do my mashes in 5 gallon buckets with saran wrap but its not needed.

Go to any Lowe's, Home depot, Hardware store near you and they'll have Water heater elements. They come in different size "watts".. I higher the watts the more heat and faster to bring to boil. I use two 1500w elements that run on regular house hold current. I suggest using around that siz...

Re: transition from flame to electric

I like using water heater elements to heat my boiler. Open flame around likker makes me a little leery. Not much to worry about with elements inside keg. I use both elements to get boiler up to temp, once up to temp I pull the cord on top element and use Only bottom to keep it rolling. I also have a...

Dirty water in the keg means its cleaning it. I would do another vinegar and water run " no cooling water" to steam it all out good. Then I would do just clean water run a few times, to get the vinegar residue out. Never hurts to do a few practice runs and see how it goes b4 adding any mas...
