Re: Colored Distillate

I checked the ss scrubbers which were still soaking in the soapy water. The wash water was clean but the scrubbers themselves have a barely perceptible brownish tinge, just like the whiskey. After the previous run, I had put the scrubbers in vinegar/water and gave them a little boil before rinsing a...

Re: Colored Distillate

No copper in my rig. I didn't think to inspect the packing when I disassembled after the run. I just pushed it straight out of the column and into soapy water. I am going to toss that packing and the off color distillate. And I think I am going to find a different packing. I hate dealing with the sc...

Re: New Still

Thanks for the welcome. I have been spending all of my HD time over on the recipes pages. I have already made and run a batch with corn meal and sugar (didn't like the raw taste of the corn meal). And I have a batch of NCHooch''s Carolina Bourbon in the fermenter now. It smells so good, I'm thinking...

New Still

Hello All, I've been reading this forum for a couple of months and have learned alot about home distillation! I don't have the space to build my own, so I ordered a 13 gallon milk can still with 40" X 2" reflux column from Mile High Distilling. Managed to run a batch this weekend and I enj...
