Run it when it's done anyway, never through out anything

Re: Hello All

welcome aboard.

plenty of fun to be had, whiskey is a tough one and a patient mans game,

but you can get some alright stuff after 3 months or so, 1 year is my recommendation.

Bonus points if ya bury it in the backyard haha.

paper towel and a rubber band is fine, I let mine air for a week before testing, but that's mainly because I have to wait to the weekend before I can play with the still again :)

2' is a good hobby size, start there, you can runs reflux stills as pot still by leaving the tap open and controlling output via temp, so best of both worlds.

Dream big, but start small, and most importantly have fun!!!

Re: First run result

But what makes me think I'm wrong is: 1. Taste is harsh, no signs of stinky tails or solvents but just harsh. I hope this will go away by aging as I red already here... 2. Smell has small to none signs of malt or grains. It's quite complex and I'm too new in it to judge, but I have expect a strong ...

an "apple pie" variant I made

1 big apple
400ml 80%abv
handful of raisins
cinnimin stick and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, leave 1 month.

made up to 1L at 30%

it goes down scarily easily...... need to keep an eye on intake.
