Re: What happened to my wash?

The primary ferment was about 7 days. Then I racked it, I suppose the beer guys would call it a secondary ferment. I suspect a lot of the reaction was cause by darkness and high ambient temperature. It has been racked for a few weeks.

Re: What happened to my wash?

Well I decided that I might as well taste it. I originally did a finger test before I racked it and it tasted somewhat harse but no different from other sucessful washes I have tried. This wash actually seems much smoother despite the odd color change. I wonder if this will give me a finer quality d...

What happened to my wash?

I fermented a sugar wash similar to ujsm and it seemed to come out fine, i did this in a plastic food safe bucket. I couldn't distill it right away so i racked it in to another bucket and sealed it. At this point the wash was a light amber color, almost looked like bud light lol. A week later i open...

Re: How many here have quit smoking? How did you quit?

Damn, thats pretty harsh news. Sorry to hear that. If you stopped would your lung functions ever improve or potentially stay the same? I am scared to death that smoking is going to get me after seeing my great grandma, great grandpa, grandma, grandpa, mom, and dad with some form or other of cancer.

Re: woman + tattoos

I dislike tattoo's in general. My wife likes them. She doesn't have any and knows well that i don't like them. But the truth is whether married or not, people still have the right to make their own choices and mistakes. I feel i would be a worse husband controlling her than she would be a wife for g...

Think i am about to follow this path myself. I would much rather give up a habit, or calm it down than die from it. Just tough cause the whole family smokes.

Find someone that works in a kitchen and ask them if they can order it for you. I just purchased 2lbs of Red Star bakers yeast for $4

Re: New build a few questions...

Well the keg boiler was my orignal plans, i was thinking of doing it with water heater elements but living in an apartment makes it difficult to find the space. Since i will be purchasing a home soon i am just going to use a flour dough seal to hold the column to the bowl so i can remove it later an...

New build a few questions...

I have been lurking for awhile soaking up some information, so now its time to get down to business. I am working on building a simple pot still, i am not one for neutrals so this is going to be used mostly for whiskey and possibly a little brandy. So far i have built most of the column. M...
