if your mash that you tested wasn't clear enough it will give you a false reading. you may try to filter some of your mash and retest it

I'm sure those pizza stones are designed to take any kind heat that a stove/oven would throw its way, they even make them for gas grills that have a dome. As long as you leave the stone on the eye after you are done and let it cool slowly should be ok and only thing that I could see happening is it ...

You could also use one or two of those fancy ceramic pizza stones, they will hold the heat steady also.

The point just before it makes a stream. I think that is the way you are running it, that's why I suggested you speed up a little and try it to see if it makes the product you like.

Yes running too fast will smear also and in my opinion drips are too slow and running too slow will cause smearing also, that's why I was saying there was a sweet spot to minimize smearing in your hearts. Try running a little faster and compare it to what you already have, you might be supprised. A ...

Small stream maybe ok , but drips not so much good for pot still. Try speeding up alittle and see if that helps. There is a sweet spot you just gotta find it, everyone's still is different so you gotta experiment with it till you find that sweet spot

Mightymini if you are worried about high temp you could use pex tubing I think it's rated for @ 180 deg F, but like these guys i use garden hose to run my cooling water through

what about all the corn?? Doesn't the corn in the recipe add flavor since it hasnt been changed/added/subtracted since the very first ferment Why not freeze some of the corn in the backset that way the corn wont freezer burn as easy, then all you have to do is thaw, boil, add sugar with some new co...

DVW pipe has a larger ID,so if you plan on soldering a tri-clamp ferule on the copper it will be too loose of a fit. Don't ask me how I know that

Mapp is better and it does heat faster, that's what I used to connect my 2" stainless ferule to 2" copper pipe.
