Re: Heating Element Control
SSR Product report After going through most of these 60 pages, I settled on the Uxcell.com SSR for Model #a11072900ux0105. $17.99 includes shipping to eastern US. Took 8 days shipping. It worked great on a 10 hour run last saturday. Mulekicker had a phase angle diagram on a post around August 31,201...

Re: Starting My First Boka/VM Project
Got a pound of the Safety-Sil, and flux today. Had a really good afternoon in the shop. Took a shot at assembly. Soldered the Condenser-top Cap and vent, the Boak Tube, and the 2"T with the VM reducer for the 1" Gatevalve together. Wasn't as bad as I feared once I got started. Hope to have...

Re: Starting My First Boka/VM Project
Here is another suggestion I didn't get in the original post. Condenser with Mandrel.jpg I used a piece of 1-1/4" chrome plated brass sink drain for a second winding mandrel. (had it in a junk drawer) It worked great. The chrome made for easy removal, and was just the right size to go over the ...

Re: Starting My First Boka/VM Project
Braz; Thanks for the response. I was using Mapp gas for the flange. I don't have the Mapp/Oxy system yet. Just unsure about the leadfree solder. How easy is it to be sure it is leadfree? The leadfree solder would likely be easier if I knew I was confident about the solder. Seems so many counterfit p...

Re: My first flame to copper moment
frozenthunderbolt; I feel your pain with the soldering. I have most of the parts for my BOKA/VM project. Just trying to get into a silversolder mode. I have done plenty of lead solder over the years. Always wanted to do the silversolder, and it sounds like the best approach for a still. Good luck wi...

Re: New Plans for a Bokakob Connected Above a VM....
Thanks a lot Samohon. Its encouragement, and tutelage like yours that make HD such a great place. I'm into the parts collection phase now. As well as collecting more advice on mashes, BOKA operation, VM management, and anything else I can glean from here to help make this a fun, safe endevor. Really...

Re: New Plans for a Bokakob Connected Above a VM....
Samohon; HD is amazing, along with a fantastic set of mentors. After all the reading and searching, my mind kept going back to the design you put together. For about two weeks, I couldn't re-find your post, and yesterday evening, I searched some more, and finally, there it was. (my searching skills ...

Re: Just check'n in
Bushman; I'm really looking to come close to the taste (just a hint of peach flavor), and smoothness (barely knew I was drinking much more then peach flavored water), when we had some of "The Baby" as we called it. Was the last jar from a year ago, so I was told. The Father who made the pr...

Just check'n in
Been doing about a month of research here, and still have a bunch more to go. Trying to carry on a family tradition. Grandfather, uncles, cousin, all passed on and feeling good. I hope to find a recipe, and keep up the fine reputation. Thanks to all who make post's here, and make this just a great p...
