checking for leaks on my first build

Well the deed is done! my 12 qt ss stock pot still is built; It has a pickled brass fitting with ptfe gasket to a 12 inch long 3/4 column into a 90 and 3inch lye arm then a 45 and then to a 6 inch piece that ends up in a 10ft long 3/8 (i think) worm. So i tested for leaks only one!! and that was aro...

i just toal ya,,look for balk head fittings..used on boats,and tanks like spray tanks/water tanks etc.. Sorry i missed understood you i thought it was a second way if parallel threads were not available. I will search for a balk head then if its not avabile go with mash rookie's idea with SS washer...

Ok i think i will look for a parallel thread male and female; would home depot, menards or ace hardware have that type of thread? And would it be ok to wrap the threads in ptfe or teflon? just so that it creates an the best seal possible without solder. Thanks for you help guys!

So I was digging around in my pantry and found 4 bags of stale marshmellows and thought this might be a suffient source for sugar :think: So i thought maybe dissovle marshmellows in hot water? Any info welcome; dont mind being shot down either could be a bad idea haha

I always use bread yeast since I can get it at the local grocery store. I have used Red Star and Fleischmann's yeasts. It always seems to me that the Fleischmann's yeast does the best for me. The Red Star does not perform very well from I can tell. I will most likely not use Red Star anymore since ...

^^^ i wanted to use something other than wild yeast something more reliable that i can use on demand, i also thought wild yeast took way longer.

ok thanks guy i just thought of a fish tank heater because i have one i wanted to put it in a 5 gallon purified water jug the blue see through kind but i like the insulation idea almost better than the heating element. and the basement i would guess is about 50-60 degrees.
