Re: Wanna be from Michigan
I'll give you my estimate. 5 gallon still will hold 4 gallons of wash need some room in the pot. 4 gallons wash equals 15 ish liters. A wash that has a 5-6% ABV (Alcohal By Volume) content you will get about 1 liter of 90% abv if running it tight. You will get more if you are going for a 70-80% abv ...

I would certainly recommend you go to the New Distiller lounge and start your reading it would prevent many questions. You will find the answers to your questions pretty fast even if you skim read through it and should only take 2-3 hrs if you go through every page.

Re: I think I've decided Bokakob it is
I got to work on the Boka today and made my 2 plates and soldered them in ( I suck at soldering but got it done) and made a 20" jacket (forgot the name) for the distillant coming out. used 2-1/2 to 3/4 adapters and filed out the stop to make a nice pretty jacket with the 1/2 pipe running straig...

Anyone have a template for the 2" column and a 1" gap? don't want to screw up the cut.
Got it.

Attempt #2 double coil success
Here are 2 pics of my attempts to do the double coil. First is with out packing the 1/4" tubing and rushing it to get done. The second photo is after suffering the humbling defeat that it really is hard to do and packing it with sugar. Bad choice of packing materials, should have used sa...

Re: I think I've decided Bokakob it is
The bottom coil will do, would be good with a 1/2" tube straight down the middle to fill up the center hole and take the bottom end back to the top for the outlet. Next hard part is the soldering. A big gas torch is most useful for the soldering and also for annealing the copper; for example y...

Re: I think I've decided Bokakob it is
I may have bounced on a earlier version. can defiantly do 1 inch. Bigger would stop any chocking from happening not sure you could get to big, i think, as they are designed to route the condensation towards the outlet. (i could be incorrect though) Tried to do that double coil today, man is that har...

Re: I think I've decided Bokakob it is
I am not sure you will be able to fit a double wound 3/8 tubing coil inside a 2" pipe. Might be able to do it if you roll on a 1/2" mandrel but that's going to be a tight wind and prone to kinking. 1/4" tubing would be easier to fit. Or, you could snag some of that 3" pipe and u...

I think I've decided Bokakob it is
Looks like i have read every single section in the New B section and a ton of threads for the last 3 weeks  and have decided on the Bokakob as a still design. Got out of work early today and went to the scrap yard. Bought my copper for 4.78 a pound. picked up a 5ft 2" pipe, 20 ft of 3/8 ...

Re: Why exactly?
If it was just taxes then home distillation wouldn't be illegal in the majority of civilized countries... This is not just a USA issue... But here in the USA I'm sure it goes well beyond mere taxation but taxation is the easiest method of quelling just about any problem... That and scheduled drug a...

Re: New to the Hobby, Western MI
As probably happens to many that are starting out I'm gonna change my still to a reflux version as it has more versatility and i feel more comfortable with what i have read. Re: New to the Hobby, Western MI
Not sure as it all depends what i can acquire. thoughts are 3-5 gallon boiler with a 1-2 gallon doubler. My initial thought was 1/2" boiler to doubler and 3/8 doubler to coil but had concern that it could build presure in the doubler. Logic said same size tubing would not cause this. any good p...
