Re: Y a-t-il des francophones dans le coin?

Since 2006, a french speaking forum about distillation does exist! I made it!

It is called fairesagnole forum...

I also made the french website fairesagnole about distilling...

With Tony's agreement, we also made an integral french translation of Tony's homedistiller website !

I just read all this thread... It remembers me the problems that occured when I first ran my reflux... : difficult to stabilize T°, reflux and purity. I finally noted this : If I use less power, the setup produces less vapor, thus less condensate to reflux in the column... It's a false idea to run a...

Of course, it will do the job! A reflux without packing and cooling is allmost workin' like a pot... But I pointed that the column's high maybe a problem since some reflux appears even without packing... The spirit comes out less flavourfull than from a real potstill. This being said, I distilled my...

I think a pot still is the best way to make flavoured spirits... and it allows you to make neutral spirit doing a double or triple distillation... Another way is to build a short column you'd make higher simply by adding a lenght of tube with cooling pipes in it... You'd so have a "two in one" setup...

If you really want to distill some drinkable spirit (and well tasting, smelling...) stay away from this amazing still and buy or build a real still !

With the amazing still, cuts aren't possible, so good stuff isn't possible ...

Amazing still is just fun for an experience .

The best and cheapest way I found to clean copper is :

Vinegar + salt (as much as vinegar can dissolve) + flour (as much to make a fluid paste)

Let it act a few minutes, then rince with hot water... Copper will shine !

After that, make a run with water...

Distil your wine and make the cuts! Not only meth is in your spirit, but other stuffs that can make it taste bad (acetone, ehyl acetate,fusels...).
Like CoopsOz said, collect in small containers and taste before to blend.

First, make the hole, which has to be precisely fitted to avoid leaks : http://www.fairesagnole.eu/forum/...
