Re: 1 1/2" to keg join

I would think the best thing to do there would be find a reducer 1-1/2 -2" and make your easy flange onto that this way you can use a tri-clamp to join to the keg having a good seal is important but if you want to make the safest and best set-up being able to disconnect easily and neatly/conven...

Re: uncle jesse's simple sour mash method

my washes take about 14 days and their is no rush like you say it helsp to let it clear a lot also so you may just be better of satrting a new ferm and having two running dry at different intervals giving you time to manage one while the other is clearing i let mine clear for up to 6 week but that i...

Re: uncle jesse's simple sour mash method

From what i have read and my experience the ph of your wash is probably a little low and they tend to slow down once they reach below 4.0 you can use a table spoon of calcium carbonate to raise the ph which i have been doing for some time now i found a kilo on ebay for about 10$ add it to the ferm t...

+1 I have been doing this for some time not with backset but with left over wash to top up boiler i think it is the only way to go
there has to be flavour flowing over to the final spirit run.

Re: It does work ..

I have to ask but why are you using gas as well as electricity i would be very careful with the heat on that heating element junction box in fact i would not recommend using one with the other!
great setup with a bigger boiler this would be an ideal stripper for low wines

Re: uncle jesse's simple sour mash method

You can always make starter for the yeast if you don't have enough And build up your yeast count that way I sometimes do if I have time 1. Litre of water To 1 cup of sugar boil for 10 min then cool to 22-25c then add yeast I also use a stir plate to speed up yeast propagation don't stress to much ab...

Re: Fan for air cooling cooling water

I have been thinking about cooling water design since i started this hobby and haven't seen a lot of theory or threads on this subject I really like the swamp cooler design for the reason that its a pretty cheap option I was using a 200ltr drum to hold my cooling water and found this not to be enoug...

Danmiz, I have waited 20 days for the ferment to do its thing. I have started to stagger my washes so im not waiting for ferments I now have washes clearing and don't have time to run them so I like to have a bit of a 'stockpile' going then its not so hard to be patient. this wash is so good even af...

vertical product condensor?

I have been looking into buying a bubble plate column and am just wondering why in most of the designs that are built they have a vertical product condenser instead of having a 45 degree lyne arm style like on a pot still?

Thanks for the good news MR, I forgot to mention that i added about 4 litres of backset to each fermentor which i saved from the first gen stripping run. Re: uncle jesse's simple sour mash method

MR , you are spot on, the space after adding the cooked corn took up a lot of space in the fermentor nearly half so i had already added the sugar to the fermentor meaning i had a sg of 1068 in about 30 liters so it took its time to ferment 19 days to be exact. i did the same recipe for the second wa...
