Re: Brewhaus is awesome!!
I am fortunate enough to live in Texas, and within driving distance of Brewhaus (only 3hrs away). I have been to their new warehouse and the staff there is great and helpful. Of course now they are stocking a pluthera of hot sauces, so lets just say, my $70 order I ordered online ended up costing me...

Re: Noobe question about Sweetfeed
Fritz, I'm using the 12% Sweetfeed with pellets from Tractor Supply, and I'm not having any issues with the fermenting or final product.

Just go to a feed store and tell them you need a bag of cracked corn. My 50lb bag was $12.

Just file or sand the stop down. Should slide right thru, and you can then solder everything together.

Re: Mr P's Hot Cinnamon Schnapps (fire piss).
So, I didn't make it 4 weeks. Pulled off half of the 90% and added the sugar syrup. Luckily I didn't add the prescribed amount, and decided to go half and half. Turned out I needed to add a little more of the 90% (was a little too sweet for me). After that it takes great, and it definetly has a kick...

I'm using a propane burner and not having any issues at all with the open flame. Just be careful as always.

Re: RumBrewer's blurtings!
Not sure what I did different, or actually what I did right this time, but had 12 gallons of All Bran wash that fermented out in 2 weeks. I did a single run on my 48" VM column and ended up with 96% ABV. Unbelievable. And it stayed that way almost all the way thru the run. The end of hearts, an...

Re: Mr P's Hot Cinnamon Schnapps (fire piss).
Just finished a neutral on Sunday and my order of cinnamon sticks arrived last night from Amazon (got a bunch of em for cheap). Got the sticks soaking in 90% abv, so we'll see what happens in 4 weeks. I'll let ya'll know.

Re: Go from VM to pot still
And yes I have a set of ferrules welded between the columns so dropping it down to 20" wont be a problem. I've read that you lose flavor with the taller column, so I may try it both at 40" packed and at 20" packed and see which flavor profile suits me.

Re: Go from VM to pot still
Ok, thanks Myles. Not removing the packing is gonna save alot of time. I was thinking that I needed to remove the helix and replace it with a cap, but went brain dead after reading up on the Boka columns, slant plates, cm's, flutes, etc.

Go from VM to pot still
I built a 2" copper VM hybrid. By hybrid I mean that I can break it down from 40" of packed/unpacked column, down to 20" of packed/unpacked column for pot still applications. I've been running running Rad's all bran with a 40" reflux with great success, but now I want to do a swe...

I thought the same thing too, but if you take a closer look at the last picture, he is holding the coil in front of the pipe to show how far down in the tube it hangs

Re: how much did it cost to build your rig?
I just finished building my reflux column and can tell you, it adds up quickly. I might have been better off buying a column from Brewhaus or Milehi, but I had free 2" copper and hated to see it go to waste. Now granted I've built exactly what I need, a column split into 20" sections so th...

Re: angle of leibig?
On my leibig, I put a threaded union before the 90 degree elbow going down to the leibig, this way I can adjust it to any angle I want. But from my understanding it's up to your personal preference as far as the angle is concerned.

Re: New from Texas
Thanks guys, I have already purchased and installed the triclamps and ferules, now I'm just just waiting for my 2" T to come in and I should be ready. Well almost ready. I've been trying to make my gold finger, or double helix condensor, but have only managed to mess up 15' of coiled 1/4" ...

New from Texas
Been doing alot of reading, researching, and planning. And here I though moonshining was basically putting water, sugar, and yeast together. I had originally built a simple still out of an old 4 gallon pressure cooker from my mom, and coiled copper tubing running thru a modified cooler with ice. Boy...
