Damn I love the thought of a Plated Column Still! I can barely pay attention to my little packed column to get good results most of the time.

I hate this damn show, but I continue to DVR and watch it! Last night they thought they had "Bad Mash" and were getting "Low Proof" shine at 65% flowing from the "Worm" about like a garden hose with 50 gallons of wash! People BELIEVE THIS SHIT! Small wonder we can't get...

Ok. The recipe takes some doing, but it's worth it in my opinion. I'll give you basics... you work out the details. First, you gotta make some Banana (NO, it's not the Moonshiners version) But use good cane sugar and bananas.... including peels! Run that and keep your hearts. Second, make a new mash...

Another congrats to RumBrewer! Seems you got it right in one go! Odin. Oh... It wasn't one go! It was more like.... 20 or so. My Rum has been a process over the last 5 or so years, more research than still time, but there was plenty of that as well. God knows that I made plenty that was used to cle...

First "Qualified Review"
So I was lucky enough to have my rum reviewed by a real live expert... that is to say, someone who makes a living judging rum. His comments: The rums: White-honestly, didn't expect much and was pleasantly surprised. Bright, clear appearance, semi sweet aroma and a very approachable taste. The finish...

Hey Y'all. About to kick it back up again in the next month or so.... I have some wine that may have gone bad that I could distill, also have first run of UJSSM and a second generation, still on the grain that could go. It may be another month or so before things calm down in real life.... But I tho...

Re: How much do you drink?
To the OP.... I drink about 3 liters of liquor a week. That is on top of a few beers and some wine.
It's a lot, and I'm going to be cutting back $$$ because it's expensive. But it's not hard to do. A few drinks an hour, over the course of an evening and it burns through pretty quickly.

I know this is an old thread, and I'm not disrespecting anyone's opinions here. What I do know, is that when I toured the distillery, we tried almost everything that they make, and it was all VERY good! Different, but good. As Mitch pointed out, their double diamond whiskey is NOT Jack Daniels. It h...

Why so much fores? No Harm in tossing it.... But 100 ML should be more than sufficient... especially if you're making good cuts.
Glad you made a good rum!
Keep it up!

I don't use them, so I'm not directly disagreeing... but I have a mash tun that has proven effective for over 200 batches of beer. IF you are using a new mash tun and have a lot of adjuncts, a hand full of rice hulls COULD save the day!NcHooch wrote: Here's what i'd do .
