Re: Dan's Flute x2, 4" x 5 plate 42" column
Its been a long time, but i do reflect back on this thread from time to time. it was the main influence on my own build. this thread and actual communication with Old Dog where he answered some of my questions on the deflegamator and the use of a 3 way valve to operate the condensers. but Dan, its a...

Re: Full reflux question?
I have a 4" flute and my RC is fairly robust and i put it in full reflux, when my column starts rising in temp... and let me tell you, as the 5500 watt element pushes from the bottom with full force, the RC has a heck of a job containing it... i found that the fores will slowly trickle through,...

Re: Dephleg controlling for flute
Interesting to hear how people run their column. Personally I run almost all by temperature. I measure the output/still head temp and use that to control my amount of reflux. Since temp is proportional to abv I do not use a parrot. Seems easier to measure the temp to get abv. Now I can't say that t...

I followed OD with a 3 way valve.... the flow goes in my shotgun PC at the bottom, then out the top to the 3 way valve so i can divert to or away from the deflag...my water is cold. cold enough that it doesnt cause me any trouble with the deflag. the deflag is where the cooling water can get warm. b...

wow great discussion... so far i have not had issues with my Hard as sled runner PTFE gaskets, but i tighten them quite firmly each time. with a little more flex in the tuff steel gaskets it would be re-assuring to expect a better seal reducing the chances of a vapor leak i may get some sheet pieces...

Angel's Envy Rye, 95% rye grainbill. Big surprise, I picked up their bourbon several years ago, didn't care for it, too headsy. Their rye is amazing, a bit of water and time to open and it is dessert in a glass. Wonderful stuff, unlike anything I have ever tasted. Just delicious! after a spree of v...
